Remove/install rear spring

Removing

1

Remove wheels

 Raise rear axle of vehicle with vehicle jack. Do not lower the frame onto the supporting blocks at this stage.

Detach spring bracket(1) and spring plate (2)

Detach rear spring (4) from front spring bracket and from rear spring shackle (7)

Lower rear axle sufficiently until no load is acting on rear spring

 Pay attention to brake hoses and lines!

Remove rear spring

Detach spring shackle (7) from rear spring bracket

Check bearing bushes in rear spring and spring shackle

Replace according to condition 

Replace bearing bushings in rear spring and spring shackle

Install

Attach spring shackle (7) to rear spring bracket

 Replace nut (3)

Attach rear spring (4) to front spring bracket and to rear spring shackle

 Replace nuts (3)

 Observe installed position of spring
Install color-coded bearing boss,
Ø 50 mm, (arrow) at front in direction of travel.

Do not tighten front and rear spring attachments at this stage otherwise the spring bushes will be twisted.

Raise rear axle and attach spring plate (2) and spring bracket (1)

 Replace nuts (6)

Mount wheels

Lower vehicle onto its wheels

Tighten front and rear spring mountings


