Warning

The work procedures described here are applicable to 6x4 vehicles which, depending upon model, are fitted with two HD 4 or HD 7 rear axles.
The procedures to remove and install the springs on the center brackets are basic, and, depending on the type of axle, may vary slightly.

2

Place the vehicle on a level place to work safely

Chock the vehicle front wheels to avoid its unintentional displacement.

Greater care to lift the vehicle will have to be observed on a laden vehicle.

3

Disconnect the negative battery cable or turn off the main switch

Detach the battery negative lead releasing its end fastened to the chassis frame.
Avoid detaching the negative lead end attached to the battery pole.

4

Slacken the rear wheel fastening nuts

Do not lift the vehicle by supporting the jack on the central housing of the rear axle.

5

Lift the vehicle and support it on safety stands conveniently placed under the side rails, ahead and aft the axle, on vehicle both sides, to make it possible to remove the spring packs. Also, support two rear axles on double trestles (A)

The vehicle must not be lifted on only one side with the opposite wheel remaining supported by the ground.
The vehicle will have to be lifted equally on both sides.
