Operate driver door fully-electric trailer hitch switch (S142/3) or the trunk lid/liftgate fully electric trailer hitch switch (S142/2) and release the ball neck.

If the ball neck is not engaged, the LED on the driver door fully-electric trailer hitch switch (S142/3) or the trunk lid/liftgate fully electric trailer hitch switch (S142/2) starts to flash on and off. The instrument cluster shows a "Trailer hitch slewing" warning message.

The LED on the driver door fully-electric trailer hitch switch (S142/3) or the trunk lid/liftgate fully electric trailer hitch switch (S142/2) goes off. The warning message in the instrument cluster disappears.
