Remove trailer hitch socket housing

The trailer hitch socket (13-pin) (X58) remains in the ball neck, the plastic cap is not removed, do not remove trailer hitch socket (13-pin) (X58) from the socket housing. Do not disconnect electrical connectors.

Remove wiring harness for trailer coupling socket (20) from guide in filler piece (17)

Installation: Ensure that the wiring harness to the trailer coupling socket (20) is correctly routed.

Remove rubber grommet (18)

Unscrew brown wire (br) with terminal connector from the ground point for the left tail light within the luggage compartment (W6/1)

Disconnect the plugs (21, 22) from the trailer connection unit [AAG] control unit (N28/1)

Pull out the wiring harness

Extract the wiring harness for the trailer coupling socket (20) by pulling it to the rear through the passage beneath the left taillight.

Take care to avoid damaging the wiring on sharp edges on the bodywork, as such damage could lead to short circuits.

Slide the rubber grommet (18) toward the trailer hitch socket (13-pin) (X58), in the direction indicated by the arrow

Slide it roughly 250 mm (a).

Only on model 211.0 when installing a new wiring harness for the trailer coupling socket (20).

Install in the reverse order
