Remove rear bumper

Remove trailer hitch mains outlet, 13-pin (X58) from ball neck guide

Unclip wiring harness for mains outlet of trailer hitch (2) from crossmember of trailer hitch (4)

Two mounting clips (1).

Remove rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2)

Do not disconnect electrical lines.

Unscrew brown line (BN) with round cable lug from left wheel arch trunk ground (W6)

Unclip black, 6-pin coupling (5) from trailer recognition control unit (N28/1)

Release white, 14-pin coupling (6) and remove from trailer recognition control unit (N28/1)

Unclip violet, 5-pin coupling (7) from slot 15 of rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2)

Unclip black fuse holder (8) from slot 18 of rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2)

Unclip turquoise-colored fuse carrier (9) from slot 17 of rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2)

Remove feed-through grommet and remove wiring harness for mains outlet of trailer hitch (2) toward rear from body passage at rear end panel


Avoid damage
from sharp body edges.

Install in the reverse order

Operation steps 11 to 1.
Ensure correct and chafe-free routing of wiring harness for mains outlet of trailer hitch (2).

Conduct operation check of the light activation signal at the 13-pin trailer hitch socket (X58)
