Remove rear bumper

Unscrew trailer hitch socket, 13-pin (X58) from holder on trailer hitch crossmember (4)

 Do not disconnect electrical lines.

Unclip wiring harness for trailer hitch socket (2) from trailer hitch crossmember (4)

 Two mounting clips (1).

Remove rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2)

 Do not disconnect electrical lines.

Unscrew brown line (BN) with round cable lug from ground in trunk at left wheel arch (W6)

Unclip black, 6-pin connector (5) from trailer recognition control unit (N28/1)

Release and remove white, 14-pin connector (6) from trailer recognition control unit (N28/1)

Unclip violet, 5-pin connector (7) from slot 15 of rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2)

Unclip black, fuse carrier (8) from slot 18 of rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2)

Unclip turquoise colored fuse carrier (9) from slot 17 of rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2)

Remove rubber grommet (3) and pull wiring harness for trailer hitch socket (2) to rear, and out of body opening on the rear body apron


Avoid any damage
caused by sharp body edges.

Install in the reverse order

 Operation steps 11 to 1.
Ensure that trailer hitch socket wiring harness (2) is routed correctly without any chafing.



Check

Conduct operation check of the light activation signal at the 13-pin trailer hitch socket (X58)


