1 | Remove rear bumper | ||
2 | Remove socket housing for trailer hitch | ||
3 | Remove right side load compartment paneling | ||
4 | Disconnect black 22-pin connector (20.1) from trailer recognition control unit (N28/1) | ||
5 | Disconnect vehicle interior/trailer hitch electrical connector (X58/33) | ||
6 | Detach trailer hitch wiring harness (20) from trailer hitch cross member (1) and side wall | ||
7 | Detach grommet (20.3) from side wall | ||
8 | Feed trailer hitch wiring harness (20) and grommet (20.3) out through hole in side wall | ||
9 | Turn cap (20.4) in counterclockwise direction | The cap (20.4) is locked by means of a quick-release coupling (arrow). | |
10 | Detach grommet (20.5) from cap (20.4) | ||
11 | Push cap (20.4) toward trailer hitch wiring harness (20) | ||
12 | Disconnect black, 3-pin connector (20.6) | ||
13 | Disconnect black, 5-pin connector (20.7) | ||
14 | Remove trailer hitch wiring harness (20) | ||
15 | Install in the reverse order | ||

16 | Perform function test on ball neck and on light signals at trailer socket |
