1 Place the spacer washer (5) on the taper roller bearing.
The spacer washer (5) is only installed in taper roller bearings without collar.
2 Use the adjustment sleeve (3), to pretension the taper roller bearing. Turn the constant gear 2 (6) several times.
The taper roller bearing are sufficiently pretensioned, when the constant gear 2 (6) is difficult to be turned.
3 Release the adjustment sleeve (3) a little.
4 Turn the constant gear 2 (6) several times, simultaneously hit with a plastic hammer.
To relieve the stress.
5 Manually tighten the adjustment sleeve (3) again enough so that the bearing does not present axial play or stress.
W26.50-1104-02
6 Assemble the dial indicator (1) in the support (2).
If the dial indicator rod (1) is very short, use an extender .
7 Assemble the support (2) in the adjustment sleeve (3).
8 Position the dial indicator (1) with the measurement tip in the main shaft collar (4).
9 Adjust the dial indicator (1) to zero.
10 Displace the measurement support (2) so that the measurement tip of the dial indicator (1) is supported on the spacer ring (5) or in the taper roller bearing of the constant gear 2 (6). Write down the value as the measurement "A".
11 Calculate the thickness of the compensating washer to be installed:
Measurement "A" – Recommended play = Thickness of the compensating washer to be installed.

12 Remove the dial indicator (1), the support (2) and the adjustment sleeve (3).
13 Using a proper puller device, pull the constant gear 2 (6) until obtaining an axial play of approx. 1.0 mm.
14 Fit the calculated spacer ring (8), the distancing washer (5) (only for bearing without collar) and the pressure washer (7) in the axle collar.
15 Fit the adjustment sleeve (3) and tighten until the pressure washer (7) compresses the taper roller bearing back to its position.
16 Assemble the dial indicator (1) in the support (2).
17 Put the support (2) in the adjustment sleeve (3).
18 Position the measurement tip of the dial indicator (1) in the machined surface of the constant gear 2 (6) and turn the constant gear 2 (6) approx. 20 times.
19 Adjust the dial indicator (1) to zero.
20 Turn the constant gear 2 (6) to the right and left and simultaneously compress upward and downward (arrows), performing the reading of the bearing play in the dial indicator (1).
The constant gear 2 (6) must not be compressed upward or downward with the screwdriver or lever, because it causes errors in the calculation.
21 If there are discrepancies, compensate with a corresponding compensating washer (8) and repeat the calculation process.
The purpose is to obtain an axial play near the minimum tolerance.
