Disassemble

Remove transmission housing rear section.

Remove circlip (97) of the main shaft bearing in rear section and remove grooved ball bearing (98) of the main shaft from transmission housing.

 Use drift or punch and hammer to remove the grooved ball bearing.

Remove cylindrical roller bearing of countershaft from transmission housing rear section using special tool puller countershaft (99).

 Replace the reverse idler shaft locking circlip (100) during overhaul.

Assemble

 Warning

Risk of injury. Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary.

Install the reverse idler shaft locking circlip (100).

Insert the bearing (98) by using the suitable hydraulic press or drift from rear housing rear end.

 Heat the rear housing countershaft rear end bearing seating area to 100°C by using the hot air gun before inserting.

 The bearing is inserted only from rear housing rear end after heating using hot air gun.

Install circlip (97).

 Heat the rear housing main shaft rear end bearing seating area to 100°C using hot air gun and insert the ball bearing.

Install circlip.

Clearance between circlip and grooved ball bearing

If required,

replace with a new circlip.

Install transmission housing rear section.
