Remove

Remove transmission housing front section (10)

Disassemble

Knock out locking bushes (10d) inward

Knock out locking bush (10e) outward

Remove retaining ring (10b)

Press out main shaft ball bearing (10a) from transmission housing front section (10)

 Always replace bearing.

Remove ball socket (10c) from transmission housing front section (10) using suitable internal extractor



Clean

Clean seats and bearing seats

 Use clean, lint-free rag.



Assemble

Insert main shaft ball bearing (10a)

 To do this, heat bearing seat of main shaft ball bearing (10a) to approx. 85 °C with a heat gun.

Install retaining ring (10b) in radial groove of transmission housing front section (10)

Install ball socket (10c) up to end stop using drift (ZF no. 9X56.502.878)

 Drift

Install locking bush (10e) flush from inside using drift (ZF no. 9X56.502.886)

 Replace locking bush (10e).

 Drift

Install locking bushes (10d) flush from outside using drift (ZF no. 9X56.502.886)

 Replace locking bushes (10d).
