X29 Gearbox electric connections takeoff
| The gearbox can be checked after a repair while installed or removed, by external part actuation relative to the mechanic and pneumatic operation, and it is possible also to check the cables and other electric components The voltage used in the check is of approximately 24 V | ||
| Take care to avoid short circuits with the cables hanging free | ||
| Apply a power current to the electro-magnetic valves that actuate the gears (MUE, MGE, MUB,MGB) no more than every 2 minutes and never for a continuous time longer than 15 seconds | ||
1 | Pressurize the vehicle's pneumatic system | With the maximum pressure in the system (at least 5.5 bar), the indication of the secondary consumers must go off, if necessary, supply the vehicle or the gearbox with external compressed air.
2 | With the indication (DESCON) lighted
3 | Connect the test cable to the gearbox electric connection plug (X29) and to the socket box (1) | Connect the terminals (2) and (3) of the test cable to the battery.

4 | Check the operation | Therefore, apply current on the electro-magnetic valves through the socket (female units) box with the corresponding adapter cable from the connection cables kit.
If the functions presented by the gearbox are not satisfactory: Having the gearbox installed: - With the gears engaged, (teeth in mesh) actuate briefly the start-up or lift the vehicle by one of the drive axle sides and turn the wheel, repeating the actuation, continuation. With the gearbox removed: - with the gears engaged, (teeth in mesh), turn the gearbox by the drive shaft. - Check if the electric connections correspond to the current electric circuits scheme with regard to the correct coupling (for example, after you carry out repair works with the gearbox wiring harness, etc.).
5 | After having checked the operation, erase all the fault codes generated by the check (faults of CAN in the different systems)
6 | Check the operation of the gearbox in the vehicle in a test drive |
