 Warning

Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Remove/install

Drain off coolant.

Remove poly-V-belt.

Remove catalytic converter (2) and place to one side with connected lines.

Expose bracket (4) and remove.

 Bolt, bracket for catalytic converter to crankcase

Remove retaining pin (5).

 Ball stud for engine cover to crankcase/oil filter housing

Remove electrical wiring harness (6) from the pump unit for the coolant pump (1) and from crankcase.

Remove screws (8).

 Screw, bearing housing/belt pulley to water pump

Remove vacuum line (7) from pump unit for coolant pump (1).

Remove pump unit for coolant pump (1) and catch escaping coolant with a suitable container.

 Installation: Replace seal.

Clean sealing surfaces with a lint-free rag.

Install in the reverse order.

 Metric screws/bolts and nuts as per MBN 10 105, 10 143
