Disassemble/assemble the oil pump

Disassemble

1

Remove the oil pump.

Remove the bolts (1) and the cover (2)

Remove the driven gear (3).

Remove the driving gear (6) from the drive gear shaft (4).

Utilize the puller or: 

Rest the gear (6) over a suitable base and pull it under pressure, with an appropriate driver.



Remove the drive gear (4)



Check:

Visually check the gears (3/4), the cover (2) and the pump case (5) for damage and excessive wear.

In case of damage/wear, replace.

The gears (3/4) must be replaced as a pair.

Check the wear on shafts of gears (3/4) and in the housing in cover (2) and in the pump case (5).

Diameter of the housings of the shafts in the pump case and in the pump cover.

Insert the gears (3/4) in their housings in the pump case (5) and check the clearance between teeth and the radial clearance of gears (3/4).

Measure the clearance between gears and internal wall of the case.

Measure the clearance between teeth of internal gears of the pump.

Feeler gauge.



Assembling

Use gloves, appropriate clothes and protective glasses.

Uniformly heat up the gear (6).

 Temperature 80 oC.

Insert the gear/shaft (4) in its respective housing in the case (5) and install, under pressure, the driving gear (6).

 Observe the assembly position (A) of the gear (6) on shaft of gear (4).

Install the gear/shaft (3) in its housing in case (5).

Install the cover (2) and the bolts (1).



Measure the axial clearance of gears (3/4) of the oil pump.

 If any irregularity occurs, replace or repair the oil pump.

Install the oil pump.

Oil the internal pump gears, through the suction orifice.
