Disassemble

1

Remove the starter from the vehicle engine

.

AR15.30-B-7100A

In order to avoid material damage, do not try to dismount the following components:
- Solenoid set (1);
- Overrunning clutch set (internal to group B);
- Induced set (13);
- Field and structure set.

2

Secure the starter in a vise

Cover the vise jaws with pliable material.

3

Make a reference mark between frame, field and brush holder group (A) and rear frame (14) to ensure perfect alignment of all assembly components

4

Disconnect the cable (21) from the solenoid assembly (1)

5

Remove the solenoid bolts (25)

6

Remove solenoid assembly (1)

To remove the solenoid assembly (1), move it away from the frame, field, and brush holder group (A) and pull it upwards.

7

Remove the union bolts (41)

8

Remove brush plate screws (42)

9

Remove the rear structure (14) and the O-ring (20)

10

Remove frame, field, and brush holder group (A), taking care not to loosen the small snap pin (28) installed between it and the reduction gear and driver assembly (B)

During the removal of group A, force the induced (13) downwards to avoid simultaneous removal,
otherwise, it may fall and cause property and or personal injury.

Snap pin (28) is required for mounting and must be preserved. If the pin is lost, it must be replaced with a 2 mm diameter pin and 10 mm in length.

11

Remove the induced (13)

17

Secure reduction gear and driver group (B) with pinion gear end down

18

Position solenoid assembly (1) on drive and reduction gear group (B)

The central piston of the solenoid assembly (1) must be fitted to the group B shift lever

19

20

Install the frame seal (33)

21

Install induced assembly (13) with bearings (8 and 9) on drive and reduction gear group (B)

Make sure that the gear teeth are aligned so that the bearing (8) can be fully seated in the housing recess.

22

Install snap pin (28) into frame, field, and brush holder group (A)

23

Place the brush springs on their side

Twist the springs out of the brushes, slide them up and gradually release the springs until they touch the side of the brushes.

24

Install frame, field, and brush holder group (A) into the induced assembly (13)

Check alignment of parts and locking pin (28).

25

Press the brushes until the springs are repositioned on their upper part

26

Install o-ring (20) on frame, field and brush holder group (A)

27

Place rear frame (14) on frame, field and brush holder group (A)

Make sure that the rear frame (14) is perfectly aligned by observing the reference mark made on disassembly.

To avoid damaging the O-ring (20), do not rotate the rear frame (14) after fitting it into the frame, field and brush holder group (A).
