Remove/install

Danger!

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.

Detach lower engine compartment paneling

Unplug plug from crankshaft position sensor (L5)

Remove bolt (1) and remove crankshaft position sensor (L5) from crankcase

Installation: Replace sealing ring of crankshaft position sensor (L5).

Install in the reverse order

Conduct sensor adaptation in ME control unit using STAR DIAGNOSIS

Only when replacing crankshaft position sensor (L5).

After replacing crankshaft position sensor (L5) the following steps must be conducted:

Connect STAR-DIAGNOSIS and select menu item for control unit adaptations in ME control unit.

Reset sensor adaptation of crankshaft position sensor (L5).

Afterwards accelerate sensor adaptation of crankshaft position sensor (L5).
