Remove lower engine compartment paneling

Remove strut on engine crossmember

Remove heat shield via left catalytic converter

Remove left catalytic converter

 Installation: Remove combustion and corrosion residues at connection points of exhaust system before installation. Replace all bolts and nuts.

Unlock and disconnect electrical connector on crankshaft position sensor (L5)

Remove bolt (3) and pull crankshaft position sensor (L5) out of crankcase



Install in the reverse order

Perform default initialization.

After replacing the crankshaft position sensor (L5).

 Connect STAR-DIAGNOSIS and select menu item for control unit adaptations in ME control unit.



Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory

Perform sensor adaptation

After replacing the crankshaft position sensor (L5).

 Reset sensor adaptation of crankshaft position sensor (L5). Accelerate sensor adaptation of crankshaft position sensor afterwards (L5).
