Modification notes
7.2.07 | Make sure that no AdBlue can drip from the AdBlue feed hose onto the electrical connectors, as this may lead to damage to the metering device (7). | Operation step 3
Sequence of operation steps 3 and 5 changed. | Operation steps 3 and 5
Installation of the metering device changed. | Operation step 7
Install wiring harness for the heating element (R28) of the metering device (7), added. | Operation step 7 |
| Remove/install | ||
Danger! | Risk of burn injuries and scalding when working at AdBlue lines and the components attached to them. Risk of injury to skin and eyes when handling AdBlue. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing AdBlue | Pour AdBlue into suitable containers only. Wait until the pressure is released before starting any work on the exhaust aftertreatment system.
| Notes on use, material properties and handling of AdBlue® | ||
1 | Remove injection line | Installation: Replace injection line after each removal.
2 | Switch off ignition | ||
3 | Remove AdBlue feed hose on line fitting (1) | Make sure that no AdBlue can drip from the AdBlue feed hose onto the electrical connectors, as this may lead to damage to the metering device (7).
Installation: Check AdBlue feed hose for foreign objects, contamination and damage before assembling.
If the AdBlue feed hose will continue to be used then this must be shortened in the area in which the hose clamp previously sat by 2 cm.
If the AdBlue feed hose becomes too short as a result then it must be replaced. Replace 1-ear clamp.
4 | Detach compressed air line (8) at metering device (7) | Seal bore with suitable stop plug.
Installation: Prior to assembly, inspect banjo union of the compressed air line (8) for foreign bodies, contaminants and damage.
| |||
5 | Disconnect electrical connectors at metering device (7)
6 | Remove line fitting (1) on metering device (7) | Only when metering device (7) is to be replaced.
Before detaching the line fitting (1) it is absolutely essential that the AdBlue feed hose be detached otherwise it may leak.
Installation: Install new gasket
| |||
7 | Remove metering device (7) with decoupling jack (4)
Installation: If a metering device (7) without heating element (R28) was installed, a new metering device (7) with heating element (R28) must be installed and the following work additionally performed:
- Install wiring harness for the heating element (R28) of metering device (7).
| Metering device for exhaust aftertreatment system modified | ||
8 | Install in the reverse order
Danger! | Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running | Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
9 | Start engine | ||
10 | Run engine and inspect metering device (7) for leaks |
