Removing

Detach engine compartment encapsulation

Attach cranking device to inspection hole of timing case (1)



Take off service flap above engine and above transmission

Setting

Crank engine in direction of rotation until start of delivery marking (2) on the flywheel is aligned with the edge of the inspection hole of the timing case (1)

Remove screw plug of inspection hole (3) at injection pump housing

 Check in inspection hole whether pointer is pointing exactly to middle of mark in marked area. If the marked area is not visible, it must be assumed that cylinder 6 is at ignition TDC. Crank engine further in direction of rotation until start of delivery marking is again visible in inspection hole.

 If the mark in the marked area is not within the pointer, set start of delivery 

Insert screw plug of inspection hole (3) at injection pump housing


