Remove camshaft

Attach graduated scale to vibration damper

 Graduated scale for vibration damper

Hook graduated scale into vibration damper pin

Position piston of cylinder on test on TDC

Turn engine at the crankshaft.

 Piston at TDC for number on graduated scale on vibration damper

OT Cylinder 1

72° Cylinder 2

144° Cylinder 4

216° Cylinder 5

288° Cylinder 3

Install retaining lock for crankshaft/starter ring gear

Connect cylinder leaktightness tester

 Apply vacuum of approx. 5 bar to compression chamber of cylinder to be worked on



Remove bucket tappet (1)

 Only on the cylinder to be worked on

Remove valve springs and valve stem seals

Repeat procedure for the other cylinders starting from work step 4

 Remove retaining lock, continue turning crankshaft and install.

Install in the reverse order
