Loosen bolt (3) for camshaft sprocket (4) on the exhaust camshaft (2)

 Loosen bolt (3) smoothly to prevent damage to the exhaust camshaft (2).

 Counterhold exhaust camshaft (2) at hexagon (arrow A).



Loosen bolt (5) for camshaft adjuster (6) on the intake camshaft (1)

 Do not loosen bolt (5) jerkily otherwise there is a risk of damaging the intake camshaft (1).

 Counterhold intake camshaft (1) at hexagon (arrow B).



Fix timing chain (7) with cable tie (8) on the exhaust camshaft (2) camshaft sprocket (4)

Remove bearing bridge (9) and exhaust camshaft (2) camshaft bearing cap (10)

 Observe the loosening sequence since otherwise the exhaust camshaft (2) can get damaged.

Detach camshaft sprocket (4) from exhaust camshaft (2) seat

 Installation: Ensure correct seating of the camshaft sprocket (4).

Lift exhaust camshaft (2) and remove bolt (3)

 Installation: Turn the intake camshaft (1) at the hexagon (arrow B) in the direction of the exhaust camshaft (2) until the exhaust camshaft (2) can be inserted free of tension.
The crankshaft must not turn in the process.

Remove camshaft bearing cap (11) on intake camshaft (1)

 Observe the loosening sequence since otherwise the intake camshaft (1) can get damaged.

Lift intake camshaft (1) and remove bolt (5)

Remove intake camshaft (1) from camshaft adjuster (6)

 Installation: Observe correct seating of the camshaft adjuster (6).

Remove camshaft adjuster (6)

 Installation: Insert the camshaft adjuster (6) in the timing chain (7) in such a way that the marking (arrow D) of the camshaft adjuster (6) is aligned with the marking (arrow C) on the camshaft sprocket (4).

Install in the reverse order
