Remove/install

1

Remove camshafts (77, 78)

AR05.20-P-6992A

2

Remove the compensation element (1) of the respective cylinder using a sucker (2)

Compensation elements 67 g in weight (design 1) should not be installed in engines with conical valve springs (installed with red color coding as of 10.94).

Do not use a magnet!

The friction surface of the compensating element would otherwise be magnetized. This may cause minute iron swarf to gather which can result in damage to the compensating element and cam.

Reinstall compensation elements at the same place if they have not been replaced.

Checking

3

Check the basic bore of the hydraulic valve clearance compensation elements

Check the surface of the basic bore for score marks and damage, and replace cylinder head if any are found.
