Check

Check general state of crankshaft (1).

 In case of cracks and/or fissures in the crankshaft, replace it.

Check hardness of the main journals and rods with a suitable measuring device.

 Replace crankshaft, in case hardness is lower than prescribed.

Check run-out (eccentricity) of the crankshaft (1).

Support crankshaft by the external journals and measure the run-out in the central journal.

Check the main journals and rod journals of the crankshaft (1).

Measure the diameter of the main journals (A) and rods (B) in two points, displaced in 90o 

Diameter of main journals (A).

Ovalization and maximum conicity.

Measure the width of the main journals (C and D) and rod journals (E) 

Measure the fillet radius (F) and the bulging (G) in the main journals and rods 

 Should the values not meet the specifications, rectify the crankshaft.

Measure the diameter (H) of the sockets of the main bushings and calculate the radial clearance.

 In case of reuse of sockets, pay attention to the marking made during removal.

When installing new sockets in normal state (standard), pay attention to the codification.

Determine thickness (J) of the thrust washers (5/6) with axial adjustment.

 To obtain the radial clearance required, the thickness of the thrust washers and the width of the adjusting journal of the crankshaft must meet the allowed ranges prescribed and belong to the same level of repair.
