Removing

Remove cylinder head

Remove nozzle holder combination

Remove end cover (1)

Insert a suitable spacer (11) between valve disk and base

 Height of spacer approx. 6.0 mm.

Use pliers (12) to remove piston (3)

 Inspect piston and piston sealing ring (4) for wear and damage, replace piston together with sealing ring if necessary.



Remove locking wedges (5)

 Press top spring plate (6) down with spring plate compressor (13) and remove locking wedges with magnetic pin (15).



Release spring plate compressor (13) and remove spring (7) with upper (6) and lower (8) spring plates

Turn cylinder head and pull out valve (10)

 Mark valve (10) relative to respective cylinder head.

Remove gasket (9)



Install

Insert valve (10) into respective cylinder head

 Oil valve stem, push in valve (10) and place spacer (11) (height approx. 6.0 mm) below valve disk.

Place new seal (9) on valve stem

 Push gasket (9) by hand over groove in valve stem and then press in with drift (14).



Drift for pressing in engine brake sealing

Fit bottom spring retainer (8), spring (7) and top spring retainer (6) onto stem of valve on constant throttle.

 Do not mix up spring plates.

Install locking wedges (5)

 Compress spring with spring plate compressor (13) and insert the collets into slot of valve stem. Locking wedges must lock in place. Relieve tension in spring (7) slowly.



Install piston (3) together with piston seal (4)

 Lubricate piston (3) and piston seal (4).

Install end cover (1)

 Replace O-ring (2).
