Remove spark plugs

Replace spark plugs

Withdraw ignition key

The possibility of inadvertant operation of the starter is excluded.

Position piston of first cylinder to be inspected at bottom dead center

Turn the engine using a suitable tool at the belt pulley on the crankshaft if necessary.

Connect up cylinder inspection equipment (1) and lead flexibles inspection light (2) into the spark plug bore

The specified flexible inspection lights (2) can be used as desired.

Inspect cylinder walls

Normal condition: matt gray surface, with honing pattern.

In cases of doubt:

Remove cylinder head

Check all other cylinders in the same way

Continue to turn the engine using a suitable tool at the belt pulley on the crankshaft until the piston on the cylinder to be tested is at bottom dead center.
