Mark separating point and cut (area A).

Do not cut too deeply.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

Expose spot welds on partial inner upper A-pillar reinforcement (1) and cut (areas B and C).

Heat partial inner upper A-pillar reinforcement (1) in crosshatched areas.


Crosshatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

Remove damaged partial inner upper A-pillar reinforcement (1).

Drill holes for MAG welding (area D).

Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in crosshatched areas and around the holes (area D).

Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

Remove shavings and drill chips.

Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas E and F).
Otherwise there may be adhesion problems.

Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces (areas E and F).
