Arrangement
4 Heating valve of the SCR reservoir (17Y02)
The heating valve of the reservoir (4) is located on engine right side, below the starter.
Task
Through the heating valve of the reservoir (4), the coolant is tapped from the engine cooling circuit for the heating of AdBlue in the AdBlue reservoir
B14.40-0171-02
Composition
1 Electrical connection
2 Engine coolant (inlet)
3 Pump module coolant (outlet)
17Y02 Heating valve of the SCR reservoir
The heating valve of the reservoir (4) is a 2/2 directional valve with pipes (2,3) for moving the coolant. In the inside there is the valve body with a solenoid armature.
Function
The heating valve of the reservoir (4) is actuated by the control module (MR). Through the combined sensor of AdBlue filling level and temperature, the control module detects how close the temperature of the AdBlue in the reservoir gets to the defined limit value of 8 °C. When the coolant reaches a temperature of 65 °C, the control module sends a signal to open the heating valve (4) and the coolant is tapped from the engine cooling circuit.
The engine cooling circuit coolant pipe is connected to the cooling inlet (2). When the heating valve (4) is not open, the coolant actuates inside the valve body.
The heating valve (4) maintains the passage closed between the engine cooling piping and the piping to the pump module, by the spring force.
When a current is applied on the valve solenoid, the coolant passage is opened and coolant starts flowing in the cooling piping.
When interrupting the current supply on the valve solenoid, the springs actuates again in its initial position. With this, the passage between the engine cooling pipe and the refrigeration piping (3), becomes closed again.
