A Modified version
B Previous version
Starting from the axle's final number 2247455 rear axles 740.89 are installed and ring gear with Ø 300 mm, with an improved clamping concept of the threaded ring of the longitudinal differential camshaft.
Previous version B
In the previous version (B) the threaded ring (5) was fixed with a locking plate (7) and a screw (6) in the end cover of the longitudinal differential (8). An additional fixation took place with a Loctite 574 seal of the threaded ring, which had a sticky or fixing impact, besides the sealing action.

For the transaction from the previous version (B) to the modified version (A) a spare parts kit was used.
To do so the following parts have to be removed: the outer ring of bearing (9) and the sleeve bearing for the inter-axle lock of the old longitudinal differential cover (8) and have to be installed on the new cover of the longitudinal differential (4).
If in the previous version (B) the threaded ring (5) or the cover of the longitudinal differential (8) were removed or the longitudinal differential was dismounted, it is necessary to change to modified version (A).
Modified version (A)
The modified version (A) has a new cover of the longitudinal differential (4) and a new threaded ring (3), besides a locking washer (2) and a locknut (1).
A locknut (1) prevents the threaded ring (3) of coming loose. For sealing the threaded ring a method of pure sealing is used (see repair means).
With the lock washer, the locknut (1) of the threaded ring (3) won't turn during tightening, so the axial play set of the longitudinal differential of the camshaft will not change. The new cover of the longitudinal differential (4) was adapted to an improved mounting concept in the area of the threaded ring (3).

Through the modification yet another variant of the rear axle has been installed in the vehicle. To ensure an exact parts supply, this modification must be documented in the vehicle data sheet VeDoc system.
