| Check | ||
5 | Check for wear and damage | Brake pads are to be replaced whenever the linings present the following conditions: - Due to wear, when reaching the minimum specified thickness and indicated by the sensors. - When presenting uneven wear. - Have been contaminated with oils, grease or brake fluid.
Whenever it is necessary the change the brake pads because of the above mentioned causes, they must be installed in complete sets of four pieces.
If for some reason, the pads have been removed and will be reinstalled again, these have to be marked in their original working position, so that at assembly they occupy the same position.
6 | Disconnect the wear sensors (3) of the brake pads (4, 5) | On vehicles fitted with sensors.
7 | Remove the dampening spring of the brake pads (2) | Installing: Utilize new bolts (1) and apply the specified torque.
| |||
8 | Remove the inner brake pad (4)
9 | Fasten the piston with a wooden wedge pushing it back | To avoid that when pushing back the pistons, some brake fluid leaks from the reservoir, remove, by suction, some of the fluid.
