The device is used to determine the measurement between differential bearing pins and its housing in the axle body.
Differential
1 Position the checking device (1) with the dial gauge (2) on the pattern (3).
2 Tighten the fastening screw lightly and set the dial gauge (2) to "zero" adding a small pre-load.
Checking measurements of the device.
For a Ø 233 mm crown gear, standard measurement = 234 mm
For a Ø 300 mm crown gear, standard measurement = 270 mm
3 Position the checking device (1) on the bearing pins, lightly tighten the fastening screw and check the measurement.

Axle body
1 Install the two measuring inserts (2) in the axle body.
2 Position the adjusting device (1) on the measuring inserts (2) and check the measurement.
