The joint housing should be adjusted without end play. Use a compensating washer with the proper thickness to make the adjustment.

Check the thickness of the compensating washer
1 Lift the joint housing and support it so that the kingpin and the thrust bearing rest against the bushing collar without end play.

2 Measure the distance "A" between the face of the joint housing and the seating face of the upper kingpin on the support tube.

3 Mount the bushing in the upper kingpin and measure the distance "B" between the mating surface of the kingpin and the top of the bushing.
The difference between the measure "A" and the measure "B" is the thickness of the compensating washer to be installed.
