Remove/install front wheel hub

Remove

1

Pull the brake drum (5) from the wheel hub (4)

Before removing the brake drum, mark the position on the hub and drum.

The bolts can be used for the removal of the brake drum.

Remove the cap nut (11) from the wheel hub (4)

Remove the snap ring (10) from the axle's sleeve groove

Remove the snap ring (9)

In the case of axles with hydro-pneumatic brake remove the cotter pin that locks the safety nut (8).

Unfasten and remove the safety nut (8) that fasten the bearings

Remove the thrust washer (7)

Pull out the wheel hub (4) using a puller



If the bearing (3) gets stuck in the axle's sleeve, it must be removed with the corresponding puller.



Remove from the wheel hub (4) the radial seal (2) and the inner bearing (3)



Check

Check the wear of the race rings friction surface (1) and if necessary replace it

The race ring must be removed and replaced by a new one whenever it presents damages, worn parts or grooves in its friction surface.

Install

Install the race ring (1)

Only in the case of replacement.

Install in the wheel hub (4) the inner bearing (3) and the radial seal (2)

Lubricate the bearing with grease.

Use a new radial seal.

Smear grease on the radial seal (2) and race ring's (1) friction surface and supply the wheel hub (4)



Install the wheel hub (4) in the axle's sleeve

Install it carefully in order not to damage the seal or the axle sleeve's thread.

Install the external bearing (6)

Lubricate the bearing with grease.

Install the thrust washer (7)

Install the safety nut (8) and tighten it up to the prescribed torque

Collar nut: When tightening the nut, turn continuously the wheel hub.

Check and adjust the axial play of the wheel hub (4)

Install the lock washer (9) in the safety nut (8)

Install the snap ring (10) in the axle sleeve's groove

Install the car a cap nut (11) in the wheel hub (4)

Supply the a cap nut with grease.



Assemble the brake drum (5) fastening it provisionally with two wheel nuts (13)
