| Remove and install | ||
1 | Put the vehicle on a flat and level place. Chock the rear wheels to avoid the vehicle's unintentional rolling. | If the vehicle is laden, more precautions are to be taken during the lifting. | |
2 | Detach the battery negative lead or turn-off the master switch. | Loose the screw of the negative cable of the frame rail, avoiding to loose the battery terminals too. | |
Danger! | Risk of injury by pinching and crushing when opening and closing the engine hood | During hood tilting always keep the area clear of people and objects. | |
3 | Open the hood to facilitate access. | ||
4 | Remove the self-locking nuts (5), the fastening bolts (9), the metal washers (4) and remove the shock absorber. | Installing:Utilize new self-locking nuts and tighten them to the specified torque. | |

5 | Remove, from the shock absorber's eyelets, the mounts (12) with the metal bushings (11). | Should it be necessary, replace the mounts (12) and the metal bushings (11). At assembly, apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly and utilize a shop press. | |
6 | To disassemble the bottom bracket (6) on the adapter of the spring (10) remove the self-locking nut (7), the bolt (8) and the bracket (6). | Assembling: Utilize a new self-locking nut. | |

7 | Check the shock absorbers for condition. | Replace the shock absorbers in the case of presenting: Traces of leaks or lack of action. Worn rods. Dented bodies. Loose or deformed adapters (eyelets). When tested on testing equipment and this recommends replacement. | |
8 | Install in reverse order. | It is important to consider that the front shock absorbers interfere in the vehicle's steering behavior, for this reason, the use of original shock absorbers is recommended and the replacement in pairs, on a same axle. | |
9 | Take the vehicle for a test-drive, preferably on undulated terrain. | Check the vehicle behavior. |
