1 Install a new sealing gasket in the cover.
2 With the help of the support (1) and the dial gage (2), measure the distance between the face of the gasket and the stop of the bearing in the cover (3).
When being tightened, a new sealing gasket is flattened. At assembly consider this value.

3 With the support (1) and the dial gage (2), measure the distance between the face of the bearing and the surface of the housing (4). This measurement will have to be the same as that obtained in the previous measuring.
4 Select the compensation washers so to obtain the specified clearance.
When carrying out this measuring, observe that the bearing is perfectly seated against the housing.
