1 | Turn off the main switch or disconnect the battery ground lead | ||
2 | Open engine compartment cover | Refer to body maker instructions. | |
3 | Loosen the nut (9) | Loosen the nut (9) enough to move the stretcher (about 1 turn). | |
4 | With the adjustment bolt (2), slacken the drive belts (1 and 5) and remove them. | ||
5 | Slacken the belt (7) | Clockwise, displace the tension device (3), with a suitable tool and lift out the drive belt (7) from the intermediate pulley (11). | |
6 | Remove the belt (7) driving the coolant pump (6) and alternator (4) | ||
| Check: | ||
7 | Check belts (1, 5, 7) for condition | Replace them in case of damage, wear, brittleness, cracks, contamination by oil or traces of overheating. | |
8 | Check the condition of the pulleys | lean the pulleys removing eventual traces of corrosion. Replace them in case of wear/damage. | |
| Installing | ||
9 | Install the drive belt (7) on tensor (3) and on pulleys (4, 6, 8, 10), except on pulley (11) | Take care not to damage the belt, do not bend it. | |
10 | Tension the belt (7) | Clockwise, displace the tension device (3), with a suitable tool and fit the drive belt (7) on the intermediate pulley (11). | |
11 | Install the fan belts (1, 5) | Mount the belt (5) on the vibration damping pulley (8) and on the intermediate fan pulley and the belt (1) on the intermediate pulley and on fan pulley. By means of adjusting screw (2), stretch the belts until the recommended value is obtained. Next, tighten the nut (9). | |
