Remove
1 Place cylinder head on a flat surface or attach to the cylinder head holding fixture.
2 Screw stud (3) of valve lifter (1) to a free tapped hole in the cylinder head.
3 Install auxiliary element (2) to valve lifter (1) and screw valve lifter (1) to thestud (3).
4 Press down valve spring plate (5) with valve lifter (1) and remove keepers (4) with the magnetic pin.
Counter hold valve at valve disk.
5 Relieve pressure on valve lifter (1) and take off valve spring retainer (5) and valve spring (6).
Inspect valve keyway, valve spring retainer (5) and keepers (4) for wear, replace parts if necessary.
Installing
6 Press down valve spring plate (5) with valve lifter (1) and insert keepers (4) into the valve keyway.
Check whether keepers (4) are seated correctly in the valve stem groove, repeat work steps 3 up to 6 as required.
7 Remove valve lifter (1) and its stud (3).
