Vehicle monitoring, general
Vehicle Monitoring is available ex factory for vehicles with code EY4 (Remote Online) (model 447.8) or with code EY3 (Mercedes me connect services comm. module) (model 470). Should the vehicle not have been delivered with code EY4 (Remote Online) (model 447.8) or with code EY7 (Vehicle setup) (model 470) ex factory, the main user can purchase and activate it in the Mercedes me connect Store through their personal account in the Mercedes me Portal at any time.
Vehicle monitoring comprises the following services:
Vehicle location and tracking
Geographical vehicle monitoring
Vehicle locating
The user can operate the services via the Mercedes me web app or via the Mercedes me app (only vehicle position and vehicle locating).
Vehicle position
The user can locate the vehicle in a radius of up to 1.5 km using his smartphone. This makes it easier to locate the vehicle e. g. in large parking lots or unfamiliar cities.
To determine the vehicle's position, geopositioning data from the user's smartphone, for example, is sent to the service center. The necessary authentication prevents any misuse of the data.
Geographical vehicle monitoring
The user is informed online as soon as his vehicle leaves or enters regions highlighted by the user. These can be highlighted as a radius around a point or by means of a polygon. Highlighted regions can be erased again with the eraser function. The highlighted regions can be linked to time periods via a calendar function. Activation of geographical vehicle monitoring is indicated in the vehicle by a symbol in the display of the head unit.
For data protection reasons, the vehicle locating function necessary for geographical vehicle monitoring can be deactivated from the vehicle at any time, as described under "Vehicle locating". When the vehicle locating function is deactivated, geographical vehicle monitoring uses the last known position.
Vehicle locating
The user is informed about the vehicle's current position online by means of transmitted geocoordinates and the display on a map. Activation of the vehicle locating function is indicated in the vehicle by a symbol in the display of the head unit.
The vehicle locating function can deactivated from the vehicle in the following way:
The vehicle locating function is deactivated by calling the service center. For model 447.8, the call to the service center to deactivate the vehicle tracker can be made via the MB-Info button (N70s13) or the breakdown assistance button (N70s12) in the overhead control panel control unit (OCP) (N70) or via the Mercedes contact phone book entry. For model 470, the call to the service center to deactivate the vehicle tracker can be made via the Mercedes contact phone book entry.
