As part of ongoing technical developments we would like to advise you that on transmission, UG100 and front power take-off transmission, only synthetic oil as per Sheet 235.41 in the Mercedes-Benz Specifications for Operating Fluids may now be used.
The part numbers for country-specific information labels must be determined in the EPC. After changing to synthetic oil as per Sheet 235.41 the information label on model 405 must be stuck to the B-pillar (driver side) and on model 437.4 to the inside of the driver door. Old information labels must have something stuck over them or they must be removed.
The oil for the current transmission model series UG100 should be changed over during the next oil change to transmission oil as per Sheet 235.41. Make sure that as little synthetic oil residue (as per Sheet 235.4) as possible remains in the transmission. Residual oil as per Sheet 235.4 may only be used for vehicles prior to series production breakpoint as per Sheet 235.41.
Please advise your customers about this change at the next opportunity.
Vehicles that are filled at the factory as per Sheet 235.41 may not be filled with synthetic oil as per Sheet 235.4.
Series production breakpoint:
Up to VIN end no. 230842 the manual transmissions are filled at the factory with "Castrol Syntrans" transmission oil, as per Sheet 235.4.
As of VIN end no. 230843 the manual transmissions are filled at the factory with "Castrol Syntrans Z long life" transmission oil, as per Sheet 235.41.
Transmission oils as per Sheet 235.4 and 235.41 can be mixed.
