Lubricant oils for driven axles - new specifications
Aiming at extending the lubricant oil change intervals for the driven axles, we inform that there are new lubricant oil classes available for use in the After-Sales The network must be prepared and supplied with these products in order to carry out the reviews established at the Mercedes-Benz Maintenance Plan.
The lubricant classes are identified according to the Mercedes-Benz global standard, i.e., as per number BeVo. The referred classes are:
MB 235.8 (synthetic)
MB 235.20 (mineral with higher protection from oxidation due to temperature)
We make available attached hereto the lists of lubricants that meet the requirements of these specifications (the oils of Mercedes-Benz brand present in these lists will be soon available to be supplied).
Range
The oils indicated in this Service Information can be used in any drive axles used in Mercedes-Benz vehicles, except when otherwise indicated.
In some specific cases, such as those of the new axles HL6 / HD6 (746.209/ 213/ 305) and HL8 (748.590), of the Actros and Axor vehicles, the use of synthetic lubricant as per MB 235.8 specification is compulsory.
The lubricants of MB 235.20 class are indicated to ensure a longer interval between the oil changes of the drive axles for which no other compulsory use lubricant oil is mentioned (the gains with regard to the intervals are from 33% to 50%).
