Optional components and/or additional equipment (CODE)
This service information is for alerting on the impossibility of warranty claim, when there is the need of later assembly, of optional components and/or additional equipment (CODE) that have not been incorporated in the series basic vehicle when closing the order of the dealer to the factory.
The sales codes (CODE) are optional components and/or additional equipment to a series vehicle.
The insertion of additional sales codes (CODE) in a basic series vehicle is to be done before placing a purchase order as requested by a customer.
Following a customer's order, all optional components and/or additional equipment to a basic series vehicle can be assembled, afterwards, by the dealer.
The quantity and the number of parts, necessary for the assembly, can be checked under a same vehicle model that has the desired "CODE" in the Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC).
Attention! Warranty claim is not possible
Reimbursement is not possible, under warranty, of the costs of parts and labor required for the later assembly of optional components and/or additional equipment that were not foreseen in the purchase order. For example; Battery master switch (CODE E30), FleetBoard (CODE EX3), PTO (CODE NL5/NJ9) etc.
The cost of parts and labor is charged to the customer and/or dealer.
To prevent the later assembly of components and/or optional equipment (CODE), check the customer's desires and needs before closing the purchase order. To do so, make use of the "MBKS" tool, made available by Mercedes-Benz to the dealers network.
Attention! In the case the vehicle arrives at the dealership WITHOUT the requested optional component and/or additional equipment, before any action is taken, please, refer to the Warranty Processing area analysts.
