3) The frame width at the reference bores "k1" at the front can only be measured after removing the front axle from the vehicle. The distance between the inside faces of the frame side members can be used as a substitute measurement.
4) The reference distance refers to the frame without its PVC coating. When measuring, allow approx. 1mm for the thickness of this coating.
Special tools
Note
The additional axle base and frame measurement procedure is intended to follow normal wheel adjustment work on accident vehicles or on vehicles where an accident is suspected.
This procedure is based on the wheelbase measurements.
Assessment criteria are the differences between left and right or the effective distance measurement.
The vertical parallelism and frame alignment can then be checked in the case of minor frame damage, and when the axle base measurements are insufficient for a clear diagnosis, i.e. if it cannot be decided whether repairs on the Celette frame straightening bench are necessary or not.
Checking frame width
1 Measure distances "BR1, BR2, BR3 and BR4" on insides of frame side members using a precision tape measure.
Note
Distance "BR1" can only be measured if the front axle with springs is removed from the vehicle.
2 If necessary, also measure the frame width via the reference bores "k1" and k2" in the frame side members using (06) and the two measuring pins with probe ((013h) length 275 mm).
