Test condition | Throttle control correctly set. |
Engine | Run up to operating temperature. |
Vacuum line | Detach, connect vacuum tester 201 589 13 21 00 and test vacuum at idle. Specified value: 38525 mbar |
Engine | Switch off and move throttle linkage to full-load stop. Test vacuum. a) Test vacuum control valve setting. b) Test vacuum lines according to vacuum diagram (see Repair Instructions, Engine, Combustion) |
Hexagon bolts (2) | Slacken; open throttle fully so that control lever of injection pump rests against full-load stop. |
Vacuum control valve (65) | Rotate in direction of arrow until resistance is felt. Tighten hexagon bolts (2) in this position. |
Note
Since July 1994, a modified vacuum control valve has been installed on which the driver is spring loaded axially.
A cup seal (4) is installed with the modified vacuum control valve which prevents dust and dirt entering the vacuum control valve.
The air cleaner and housing for routing the air must be removed on vehicles with engine 603.96 for checking and adjusting (for vacuum line diagrams, see Repair Instructions, Engine, Combustion).
