13-9999 Removing and installing vacuum pump
Preceding work: Radiator removed (20-3865). Poly-V belt removed (13-1202). |
1 | Hexagon bolts 25 Nm |
2 | Vacuum pump |
3 | Vacuum line (ancillaries) |
4 | Vacuum line |
5 | Gasket replace |
Removing, installing
-------------------------------
1 Detach vacuum line (3) and unscrew vacuum line (4).
2 Slacken hexagon bolts (1) evenly and unscrew.
Note
Crank engine on a little, if necessary, until the pressure on the tapet of the vacuum pump is eliminated.
Installation note
Screw hexagon bolts tight evenly, 25 Nm.
4 Take off vacuum pump (2).
Installation note
Clean gasket residues of sealing surfaces of vacuum pump and replace gasket (5).
If the vacuum pump was replaced following damage to the ball bearings, it is important to carefully look for fractures of the ball bearings. Such fractures may remain in the timing case or drop through as far as the oil sump.
Fractures which remain in the engine can cause the oil pump to block after a short operating time and thus cause bearing damage.
For checking, fit together the fractures until it is possible to determine that no part remains in the engine.
6 Install in the reverse order.
