Location
The seat belt buckle switches are integrated into the respective seat belt buckle.
Task
The seat belt buckle switches monitor the insertion of the belt tab into the seat belt buckles. The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) control unit directly reads in the status of the driver seat belt buckle switch and the front passenger seat belt buckle switch. The SRS control unit reads in the status of the rear passenger compartment seat belt buckle switches via the network architecture.
The SRS adapts the triggering behavior of the restraint equipment based on the status of the seat belt buckle switches (except center rear seat belt buckle switch). The status of the seat belt buckle switch is also processed for the seat belt warning.
