Supporting and amplifying signals
Transmitting signals
Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in via:
Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)
Direct lines
Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)
The sound system amplifier control unit is a subscriber to the MOST and receives, for example, the Digital Transmission Content Protection (DTCP) copy-protected audio signals from the following control units:
Audio unit
Tuner unit (A90/4) (with CODE 536 (SIRIUS satellite radio), with CODE 537 (Digital radio) or with CODE 865 (TV tuner), as of 02.03.2015)
TV tuner (analog/digital) (A90/1) (with CODE 863 (Digital/analog TV tuner), up to 31.05.2012)
Digital TV tuner (A90/3) (with CODE 865 (TV tuner), up to 01.03.2015)
Digital Audio Broadcasting control unit (N87/3) (with CODE 537 (Digital radio), up to 01.03.2015)
Satellite Digital Audio Radio (SDAR) control unit (N87/5) (with CODE 536 (SIRIUS satellite radio), as of 01.06.2010 up to 01.03.2015)
SDAR/high definition tuner control unit (N87/8) (with CODE 536 (SIRIUS satellite radio), up to 31.05.2010)
Media Interface control unit (N125/1) (with CODE 518 (Media Interface), up to 01.03.2015)
Direct lines
The following signals are read in via a direct line:
Power supply via circuit 31 and circuit 30g
Muting of audio sources (with CODE 348 (Emergency call/assist system) or with CODE 359 (TELEAID emergency call system) or with CODE 350 (eCall Europe emergency call system)), up to 31.05.2016
Muting of audio sources from HERMES control unit (N112/9) (with code 360 (HERMES UMTS) or with code 362 (HERMES LTE)), as of 01.06.2016
Electrical wake-up signal
Decoding signals
The sound system amplifier control unit decodes DTCP copy-protected audio signals on the basis of the latest Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology.
DSP means that for the audio range, audio tracks are processed using mathematical algorithms with the objective of improving the sound characteristics.
Supporting and amplifying signals
Supporting surround sound ("Logic 7")
Supporting two stereo entertainment channels and three announcement channels (e.g. for voice output of navigation instructions)
Amplifying decoded audio signals
Transmitting signals
The sound system amplifier control unit transmits audio signals to the following speakers via direct lines:
Left door tweeter (H41/h1)
Left door woofer (H4/1h2)
Right door tweeter (H4/2h1)
Right door woofer (H4/2h2)
Left rear tweeter (H4/3h1)
Left rear woofer (H4/3h2)
Right rear tweeter (H4/4h1)
Right rear woofer (H4/4h2)
Center instrument panel speaker (H4/27)
Rear shelf woofer (H4/29)
Left rear surround speaker (H4/54)
Right rear surround speaker (H4/57)
Function
The sound system amplifier control unit is activated by the audio equipment. The audio equipment also provides all of the menus for user guidance.
Moreover, the following subfunctions are available:
Diagnosis
Software download
Diagnosis
The diagnosis of the sound system amplifier control unit is performed using the Keyword 2000 protocol. All control units connected to the MOST have diagnostic capability via this interface.
Software download
The updating takes place via the drive of the radio or the COMAND controller unit using a CD or DVD.
