Door locking motor, purpose

The locking motors in the driver's and passenger doors (M11 and M12) consist
of tappets actuated by an electric motor. They lock and unlock the doors by moving the tappet in or out.

The actual tappet position is sensed directly on the locking motor by a changeover switch and signaled to the ZV/KSA control module (A23). The ZV/KSA control module evaluates the signals from the switch and recognizes whether the doors are locked or unlocked.
