The brake vacuum sensor in the BAS brake booster records the vacuum as the difference to the atmospheric pressure. The brake vacuum sensor transmits this pressure difference to the ESP® control unit as a voltage signal.
Function
The atmospheric pressure acts on the front side (active side) of the silicon membrane of the pressure sensor element. The current vacuum (measured vacuum) in the BAS brake booster acts on the rear side. The pressure sensor element generates a voltage signal depending on the curvature of the membrane, which is amplified by the sensor electronics.
