When the cruise control pushbutton switch is operated, two contacts are always closed simultaneously. The actual input is made by closure of the accelerate and set contact (storage of maximum/specified speed). The safety contact (S40/4s5) must close simultaneously so that the entry is accepted.
The signals from the cruise control push button are read in by the steering column tube module and sent over the engine compartment CAN (CAN C) to the ESP and BAS control unit (N47-5) for evaluation.
