B65 Coolant temperature sensor

Coolant temperature sensor location

The coolant temperature sensor (B65) is screwed into the coolant outlet pipe of the heat exchanger.

Coolant temperature sensor design

The coolant temperature sensor is designed as a PTC resistor (PT 1000), i.e. its resistance becomes higher as the temperature rises.

Coolant temperature sensor function

The coolant temperature sensor alters its resistance depending on the coolant temperature and therefore the adjacent voltage at the retarder control unit.

The retarder control unit can assign a correct temperature to this voltage, on condition that the value is within the permissible range.
