At an engine oil temperature under 115 °C, the engine oil is fed through the opened oil thermostat (2), via a bypass, directly into the oil filter. At 115 °C, the oil thermostat (2) closes the bypass and the engine oil first flows through the heat exchanger (5) before it ends up in the oil filter.
