Location
The exhaust pressure sensor is located on the exhaust gas recirculation line.
Task
The exhaust pressure sensor determines the exhaust pressure upstream of the turbochargers.
This pressure information is used by the combustion engine control unit for exhaust gas turbocharger protection and engine protection against thermal overload.
Function
The exhaust pressure acts via a metal separator diaphragm with plunger on the sensor membrane, on which pressure-dependent resistors are located. The deflection of the membrane causes a resistance change that results in a voltage change. The combustion engine control unit calculates the current exhaust gas pressure from this voltage change.
